Chinese New Year

With the upcoming adoption of our little one from China, we decided that we needed to incorporate some Chinese traditions into our family.  Our logic behind this is that we feel it would be easier to continue the traditions than it would be to start blindly when our daughter is old enough and decides that she wants to celebrate them. If she decides that she doesn't want to continue the traditions, then that will be her choice and we will honor her choice when the time comes.

With that being said, this year we had a little Chinese dinner at home.  I cooked some long noodles that I picked up at the grocery store.  We had oranges and some Chinese take-out which we enjoyed with our stash of chopsticks.  The kids got red envelopes filled with money. This year was the year of the horse. Next year I plan to incorporate a little more to our celebration.
