chicken chicken

Chickens like: strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, bread, pepper plants {grr},
locust shells, and chicken nuggets

Chickens don't mind: being picked up by the kids frequently and
Chaos snooping around in their coop daily

Chickens don't like: loud noises, sprinklers, sharing "human" food, and
being shooed off the patio area

Fun Snail Mail

While out running errands with the boys one morning, we found some giant Easter eggs at the Dollar Tree. I immediately thought those would be great to use to send some fun mail to the nieces and nephews. Along with candy, we also found a miniature jenga-like game, some coloring pages & stamps, and a mini crossword book for the eggs. We mailed out 4 eggs, but I only took pictures of one egg.

We've mailed out 2 eggs several weeks ago. My little niece loved hers!! We just mailed out the other 2 yesterday. In the end, the postage ended up being more than what we paid for the contents inside.  That didn't really bother me too much.  They love them or will love them, and it's not too often you get sent a giant egg in the mail!

Chickens

During the fall, we talked about getting some chickens.

We decided 3 or 4 was a good number. One for each child.

A couple of weeks ago we went to the farm store to get our chickens.

Unbeknowst to us, we had to purchase a minimum of 6 chickens.

So, we are the proud owners of 6 chicks.

It was a warm day. We built a little enclosure to allow them in the yard for a bit.

The cat is always lurking close by. She's just curious. She hasn't attacked, but she sure likes to watch.

*We live in an urban area on the corner of the block. We have neighbors right next door. Our city allows residents to have chickens if they would like. Luckily, our neighbors are great, and talked about getting chickens also!!
