A Day Out with Thomas

A couple of weekends ago we took the kids to Colorado to "A Day Out with Thomas" event. They loved it. We were there for about 4 hours. Seeing the kids' excitement was well worth the money spent for the ticket cost.

Besides riding Thomas, the event had other activity stations set up for the kids to enjoy while waiting for their train ride.

Waiting for hats and stickers.

Joci trying on the firefighter's boots. Byron didn't want to try them on.

Joci petting a miniature horse.

Byron petting a baby goat.

Trying out the train in the museum.

I have no idea who she was looking at.

Notice his hand; he had to go but would not use the porta-johns. He waited until we were back up to the gift shop with a real potty. Can you blame him?

Joci getting her picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt. Once again, Byron did not want his picture taken.

Joci hugging Sir Topham Hatt after getting her picture taken.

The locomotive that was helping Thomas. Notice the red circular plaque.

Thomas the Train

The only good picture I could get of the family riding on Thomas the train.

The family

What we learned:
1. We will not take another trip on a school weekend unless we have a couple of extra days off. We made it back in time for bedtime, but it was just an exhausting weekend.
2. Byron will tell you when he's done. Joci will not--she will instead have meltdowns.
3. Since we have 5 in our little family now, a suite seems to be the better option for us when staying in a hotel. Of course, that means a little extra cost.
4. For our next event, we will schedule our tickets earlier in the day. We had 10:00 tickets, but the kids woke up so early (6:30 am) that we could have made the first train ride at 8:30 am.
