Operation Christmas Shoebox

Here is a picture of the gifts we put in our shoebox this year. We dedicated our box to a 9 to 14 year old girl. We packed our box, wrote a letter, and included pictures of our family for the little girl. We will be praying for the little girl who will receive our box, and anxiously waiting for a return letter. I heard of Operation Christmas Child through the MOPS organization.

A story taken from the Samaritan's purse website:
From the parents of Nina (in Russia):

We are thankful to the Lord for your kind hearts. God made a miracle and showed His love and care for our daughter through you. She had been dreaming about a teddy bear! She asked us many times to buy her one, but we couldn't afford it. All we could do was to pray and believe that God would answer her prayers. She prayed every night before going to bed about a teddy bear, and she dreamed about having one and singing lullabies to him.

She got so excited when she received a gift and opened the box. There was a teddy bear inside the box! Just like the one she had been dreaming about. There were also many other toys, crayons, and candies. God fulfilled the need tremendously. It was a great example of God's love to our daughter. Now she understands that it is very important to open up your heart and bless someone, to serve someone. Tonight before she went to bed she prayed and asked God to bless those who sent her such a wonderful gift. Then she embraced her teddy bear and fell asleep.

I love packing the boxes, and we will continue this in our Christmas traditions each year. There are several drop-off locations throughout the country--however, the locations are now closed for this year. You can still participate by donating $7 via the website to send a shoebox, or start saving items for next year's shoeboxes!! "Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ."(Taken from Samaritan's Purse website)
